Hello,
For IIMS you should give CAT exam . It is generally 99 to 100% for general category students. For reserved category students it will be 97-98%(in CAT 2021)
The older and well known IIMs like IIM A, B and C give considerable weightage to past academic records like Class 10 and 12 marks besides graduation results too.
Your 10th, 12th and Graduation marks carry a weightage of 5-7.5% depending on the IIM you are interested in. As you have scored well in your graduation you are eligible for CAT.
Good luck with your preparation for CAT.
hey!
Yes, you can get IIM calls from almost all IIMs, except IIM B perhaps because of slightly lower graduation marks and zero work experience.
But, getting an IIM call and converting it are two different things. And you should be well aware of the difference. For getting a call from various IIMs, the criteria for academics are a bit relaxed to ensure no potential student is eliminated in the qualifying stage because of one outlier marks in the boards or graduation.
But, once you get through the qualifying stage, the situation becomes purely competitive in nature in each category and the total composite score will be affected by difference in marks. So, somebody getting 90+ in both boards will have definite advantage over you.
Lastly, your graduation marks of 70% will mean different things for different streams. A 70% in B.Tech can only be considered as average, while the same marks in BA(Hons) will be seen as very good. As your scores are normalized with respect to all graduates from same stream, you stand a better chance at converting if you are from an Arts background rather than from an Engineering one.
Hope this helps!
