Hello, Ravi let me make you aware of the insider facts of the selection criteria for top 5 IIMS. Top IIMS try their level best to take few percentages of engineers compared to every previous year but engineers are mostly the ones who scores the most and comes in the top percentile. Therefore, to get a call from top IIMS you would need 99.5 percentile at least because to get a call percentile is not the only criteria but also the scores of 10th, 12th and graduation where in 12th as you have scored 80% that creates a situation to push your percentile more to cover the gap for not having 90+ percentile . But in engineering above 8 is generally considered good therefore at least above 99 percentiles would create the chances for you to get a call.

To get the score like 99 percentile you must get 180+ but that also then depends on the type of competitors and the number of people who sit for cat and the quality of paper they get for the examination. Scores might vary that way which would define your percentile.

Percentile plays the role only for the call but after the call the deal breaker is the interview. If you get the call then giving a good interview would help you convert the call. After the interview the main criteria for conversion is the interview, Written assessment test and percentage in your 10th and 12th standard. graduation do play a role but not a major criterion for conversion. if your percentile can compensate your 12th marks then with the call you will be able to convert the call for sure.

You can also get to know the exact range of scores that is required by you to get good calls is by joining AIMCATS by TIME(coaching centre). The speciality of TIME is that around twenty five thousand students give their AIMCATS which gives you a rough idea of the position and the type of percentile you can score with a particular range of score. Therefore, I would strongly advise you to at least joint the test series of TIME to understand your chances and get time to improve on the weaknesses.

Your academic score is faar better across all the platform like 10th , 12th, and your respective Graduation degree as well and  inorder to get into the top IIMs it will depend upon your respective CAT percentile because for entering into that your percentile should be more than 98+ such that based upon the category wise cuttoff you can be able to enter across the various IIMs.
