Hi Ankit..!!

First of all, the basic eligibility for CAT is 50% in your graduation and you are in the safe harbor. Getting into an IIM is a different story though. Each IIMs have their own admission criteria and vary accordingly, and the weight given to CAT percentile is also different. Some colleges like IIM Bangalore depend heavily on your academics, which in your case could be of low chance ( IIM Bangalore expects 90-90-85 generally), but other IIMs like IIM-Calcutta go easy on the academics and weigh heavily on the CAT and this becomes your hunting ground. Thus, it becomes important for you to jot down the IIMs you are eligible for and aim for the particular CAT score accordingly.

Your degree would give you an advantage though. Your arts degree fetches you additional marks while getting calls and also while converting the call during final admission. Again, the amount of weight given varies accordingly. But if you're an engineering grad, you might have a back foot.

Since nothing can be done about the academic score right now, it becomes rather important for you to score as high as possible in your CAT exam. Assuming you get somewhere around 98-99 percentile, there is a very high chance of you securing a seat given that you do your PI-WAT very well. With a score like 99+ percentile, you will certainly get calls from all the old IIMs, baby and new IIMs but please be assured that there is cutthroat competition by now. At around 96-97 percentile most of the new IIMs start giving calls and you stand a chance there because they go light on the academics. Getting a call from IIM B and IIM Indore is almost impossible with this academic record as they weigh heavily on it.

That being said, once you get a call from the IIMs, another obstacle to cross is the PI-WAT. Again, it depends upon different IIMs. Some IIMs like IIM Bangalore and IIM Indore give very less weight for your CAT percentile ( a mere 25%) and others like IIM Udaipur give 55% to your CAT score while calculating your composite score for the final admission. Thus scoring high only in CAT doesn't guarantee a seat and the real game begins only after that. Please prepare well and focus on current affairs and work experience related stuff if you get calls.

Hello,

Generally, to get admission in reputed institutes you have to qualify any of these exams. Some cases reputed Universities/Institutes will conduct their own entrance test to for the students those who missed the chance to appear national level tests, like Lovely Professional University(LPUNEST) and SRM University(SRMJEEM) . This test will give you eligibility to join in that particular Institute/University. Before joining any institutes you must have to check these parameters, Parameters are 1) Placement 2)Faculty and 3)Infrastructure. Because these things will help you to enhance your career.

Hope this information will help you. Best wishes.

Good Luck!

Hi Ankit,

Before answering the question, I would like to tell you that the B-schools which take admissions without any entrance exams are usually not renowned or have less market value. Although t here are many private B-schools which offer admissions to MBA/PGDM program on the basis of your academic scores, GD and PI. Quantum University in Uttarakhand is one of the institutions that offer admissions directly on the basis of your past academic scores. Some other private institutions such as Amity University, Shiv Nadar University, Sharda University etc. offer admissions to MBA programs on the basis of their own entrance exams. However, the competence level of these exams is not very high. The application forms are usually available throughout the year. You can register online, give the online test and take the admission. To remind you again, their market value won’t be as good as the B-schools which take admissions on the basis of entrance exams such as CAT , XAT , MAT , CMAT , NMAT , ATMA or GMAT .

With 60 percent in BBA, you are eligible to apply for all of these national-level entrance exams. Explore the hyperlinks to know more about these exams.

Hope the information provided is helpful. All the best.

Hii

Yes, there are many private colleges in India where you can get seat in Management Quota for MBA Course. For this seats you need to personally contact the officials of the colleges. But the thing is you will not get good college without giving exams like CAT, CAT, CMAT, MAT, CAT etc. With growing competition doing MBA is not enough, you need to pursue MBA degree from a top reputated college. I strongly recommend you to start preparing and sit in exams next year.

All the best.

U can pursue if colleges or University didn't required ENTRANCE EXAM but Only Private University Can Accept Admission without CAT.

There are chances that you have not been able to appear for CAT or if you did, you have not been able to score well. Do not be worried or disappointed. There are several other reputed and top MBA colleges in India that grant admission without CAT score or any entrance test at all. It is all about how you perform in the personal interview or fair through the specific criteria of each institute.

Thanks,

Azim
