Well borther, it depends on your own will
If you belive you can devote your entire year for JEE preparation and to get into your dream college, then I would suggest you to take a drop.
You have all the time to think, also let me tell you people with 2k, 2.5k and 4k rank students also drop. So don't think, getting a low rank had made you to take the choice.
Be brave and own a decision, brother!
Hello Anurag!
With your JEE Mains rank, you can get into some NITs, like NIT Andhra Pradesh, into Metallurgical and Materials engineering; VNIT Nagpur with Mining engineering, etc. These are just a few examples. Go through the following link for previous year cutoffs for NITs:
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/nits-cutoff-for-top-btech-branches
Before taking a decision about taking a drop to prepare for JEE Mains/Advanced and other entrance exams, take into consideration the following:
- What are your alternatives for engineering colleges?
- There is an option in NITs, where based on your 1st year performance, you can change your branch. Performing well in 1st year, scoring a CGPA above 8.5 or 9 ( cutoff is different for different colleges for different branches)
- If you are willing to study hard for the next year and prepare for entrance exams, then go for it. If you have the patience and the will to concentrate fully, then go for it! Set your schedule properly, plan well, and practice thoroughly, take a drop.
Best Wishes!
Greetings to you,
You've secured quite a good rank in JEE Mains 2019. We'll consider all your options and then it will be upto you on what to do next.
First, do apply for JOSAA counselling and smartly fill in your preferences in accordance with last year's cut-off. If you get a decent branch in a decent college and you think that you'll be able to cope up with the resulted choice, the go for it.
Second, you can apply for good private institutions that accept JEE Mains rank/marks such as LNMIIT, Thapar, JIIT etcetera.
Third, you can consider the option of drop but you should only execute this if you think you'll be able to crack JEE with a better rank than this year.
I would suggest you to consider all of these options thoroughly and then decide which one's the perfect for the scenario. Good Luck. Feel free to comment for any other related or non-related queries to the answer.
Hey Anurag, with 35154 rank in Jee mains and 93 Marks in JEE Advance, it is very difficult or we can say that there is no chance to get admission in any college of IIT. And it is also difficult to get a seat in NIT too. You can apply for the private colleges which are among the best. And if you only want IIT, then you should prepare again. Because with this marks, it is very difficult to get a college in counseling
Hi ! It seems that you are not going to get any IIT with any branch. It is so because your rank is very high. So better not go for counselling. Instead drop 1 year and prepare for JEE advance once again, if you want to. So hope you understand and best of luck to you.
