Food Technology is a science branch that deals with the techniques involved in production, processing, preservation, packaging, labeling, quality management, and distribution of food products. The field also involves techniques and processes that are used to transform raw materials into food. Extensive research goes behind making food items edible as well as nutritious.
As deep as we go into the dimensions of food technology, we require professionals in this field. And, this has led to the emergence of food technology courses. There are a plethora of opportunities for students who wish to pursue a course in food technology. ELIGIBILITY:-
Students can opt to pursue a degree, diploma or doctorate programme in food technology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
To pursue the course at undergraduate level , candidates should clear Class 12 th in Science stream with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Home Science and minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by a university/ college (usually 50% - 60%).
To pursue a food technology course at postgraduate level , candidates should possess a BSc (in Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry) or BTech/ BE (in food technology) degree with the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed a university/ college
