I want to apply for MA Economics. what is the criteria and what books will you suggest?
Hello Arjun,
The eligibility criteria is nothing but a graduation degree in any discipline.
There are several books, some of them are mentioned below:
Microeconomics: Hal Varian (Intermediate Microeconomics), Hal Varian Workbook, Osborne (for game theory), Nicholson and Snyder (for production theory)
Macroeconomics: Dornbusch and Fischer, O. Blanchard, Development Economics by Debraj Ray (for Solow and Harrod Domar growth models)
Econometrics and Statistics: Degroot and Schervish.
Mathematics: Sydsaeter and Hammond.
Going through the Study Material For Economics Entrance Exam For DSE, ISI MSQE, JNU, MSE, IGIDR, is recommended.
Hope this helps
I checked DSE's last year papers, they were filled with mathematics. I have done my BA from Punjab University with economics as my main subject. The syllabus was really different, and I have nearly all the books you have mentioned. I am going through the books at my pace, finding difficulty with mathematical economics (A.C Chiang). I need help with that.
Thank you B)
