Go ahead and give GATE 2019. Before you must be aware of syllabus of GATE for the branch you want to give GATE. Also this year new paper Sstatistics(ST) is added in GATE 2019. You can give GATE in your final year or after that. By the way GATE exam generally fall in the month of February.
