see you are eligible to appear in gate paper from any of the stream irrespective of your bachelors course or masters course stream . candidates who are currently in m.sc course of second year or already completed their education are eligible to apply for GATE exam.

Yes, you can attempt GATE exam if you are studying pre-final/ final year of M.Sc Mathematics. Only pre-final/ final year students who are in M.Sc/M.Tech/M.A/MCA or equivalent exam are eligible to write GATE in terms of Post Graduation education eligibility criteria.

Students who are in their pre-final/ final year of their B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Sc Research/ B.Pharm/ B.Arch/ B.S are also eligible to write GATE based on Understand degree eligiblity criteria.
