Hi Rutuja, congratulations on completing your bachelors. You need to have a masters degree and then only you can apply for UGC NET as per the norms.
Hello Rutuja,
After your BA/B. Sc, you should obtain a Master's degree. Please sit for entrance tests of the master's programs of universities like Delhi University.
Then, qualify the NET/SET (National/State Eligibility test). That will help you join as an assisstant professor from where you will be promoted to associate and then full professor.
You will also need to obtain a PhD if you want to teach in an university and not just a mere college.
Hi
It is good that you have clarity about your career. Teaching is a great profession. Just to add on to the answer, to become a professor, follow these steps,
1. Complete your Masters. You can also pursue a post-graduate diploma in your preferred specialisation.
2. In your final year, you can apply for National Eligibility Test (NET). This is a compulsory test for lecturership in India (to become a professor). The important thing is that you must secure a minimum 55% marks in your Masters, as this is the eligibility criteria for NET.
3. Secure marks as per NET cutoff. If you pass this test as per cutoff, you are eligible for a research fellowship and work as an assistant professor in University.
Earlier NET was conducted by UGC, but it is now conducted by CBSE. You can check details here- https://cbsenet.nic.in/cms/public/home.aspx
