Requirements for becoming a news reporter/anchor:
- You should possess excellent improvisational, verbal, interviewing and written skills. You should be extremely sociable so that you comfortable interact with reporters and also interact with reporters and other guests. You should have immense ammount of physical stamina, you should be capable of working in and with a team. You should know literally everything about whatever you talk about and have a convincing professional image and attire.
- It is necessary to do your undergraduation and postgraduation in order to become successful in this career line. You can do your undergraduation in broadcast journalism, mass communication, journalism or from a liberal arts programme which lets you choose journalism as a major.
- Try doing internships with the media and journalism industries so that you get field experience as well as an edge over other candidates applying. Try working with your school newspaper or on some radio or television statition. These activities will give you the confidence to work in this industry.
- Participate in school debates, speeches etc. This will give you the edge you need in a newsroom.
- Read as much of current events as you can. Improve your general knowledge about the happenings around you through newspaper or online portals, but stay up to date so that you can fluently talk about any event when in a social gathering with respectable people.
- Do think about doing your Master's. A Master's degree will give you all the necessary field training and broaden your scope of getting better jobs and internships. Students with have an edge over other candidates as they are more experienced.
