To become a psychiatrist, the qualifications you need to have and subsequently the courses you need to pursue are:

  1. Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery i.e MBBS
  2. MD in psychiatry or Diploma in psychological medicine (DPM) or DNB Psychiatry

Firstly you need to appear for NEET UG to get an MBBS seat and complete the 5 and half year course, and then pursue further courses. After attaining all the degrees, you will get a lisence to practice in all the states of India.

I hope this helps you!

Dear,

Psychiatrists are the professionals who look after patients with mental problems, such as depression. You can pursue a career as a psychiatrist after completing an M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) in Psychiatry, after your MBBS. You can also take admission in M.D.(Psychiatry) after completing your graduation/post-graduation in Psychology. Another option you have to become a qualified psychiatrist is to do a Diploma in Psychiatric medicine (DPM) from a recognised educational institute.  Psychiatry is basically specialization within a physician’s postgraduate degree (Doctor of Medicine, MD). The MD course in Psychiatry takes three years to complete while the diploma takes two years. There are various institutions offering these courses in psychiatry. Besides the md and the dpm, there is a third option for study.  The National Board of Examinations conducts a programm called Diploma of National Board Exam (DNB). The DNB is considered to be equivalent to a MD degree(You can know more about this by visiting the official site). You can know more the colleges here: https://medicine.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-psychiatry-colleges-in-india

Hope this helps!

To become psychiatrist you will have to choose Bio-Science in your 11th stream. You can opt Mathematics if you want as it is not mandatory, it is upto you.

Then, you will have to study hard for your NEET exam to get a good college. After getting college, you will have to excel in your MBBS course and then work hard for your MD exam.

After that:

MD in psychiatry

Diploma in psychological medicine (DPM)

DNB Psychiatry.

Anything from the above, whichever you want.

All the best!!
