Major is considered as one of the most prestigious and reputed career rank in Indian Army. Major is two rank senior to that of Lieutenant and one rank senior to Captain.
>>> So, the first step to become a Major, candidate first should join the NDA (National defence Academy)/ CDS (Combine Defense Services), which is conducted by UPSC twice a year.
>>> The exam is then proceeded by SSB, medical tests, merit lists and interview rounds.
>>> Then candidates , after selection, spend the 3 years in Academy obtaining the relevent required degrees for Military Training.
>>> Then Army Cadets are sent to IMA (Indian Military Academy, Dehradun) and are commissioned as Lieutenant in Indian Army after 1 year of training.
>>> Lastly, after further training and skills and experience they are commissioned at the position of Major.
