To become a world travel journalist, have the basic skills to succeed in this line.
Some of the skills are:
- Start to socialize with people, be communicative with them, and understand their culture.
- Become a story teller, but not the one in common.
- Write blogs and experiences
- Create your own writing style.
- Look for new ways to present your ideas
- Your content should be able to entertain, educate, and inform them.
- Always look for feedback and be ready to face criticism, and be thankful for it.
- Read what other are writing and find your genre from adventure travel, culinary travel, destination travel, theme travel, historic travel, dark tourism travel, hill station travel or budget travel. This will give a good hike to your identity.
- Be a problem solver not a part of the problem as readers expect concrete information.
- Initially you can expect a low pay but with increase in experience and specially skills you have money around you.
- You may face a full time job problem. It’s important that you are a curious and perceptive traveller who is comfortable for any ups and downs. You should also be willing to pitch your ideas to an editor and be prepared to promote your work whenever possible. As a beginning travel writer, you will need to showcase writing talent and a zest for adventure, as well as an ability to sell your ideas and writing to editors.
There is as of no defined qualification. A good amount of experience will help you in this field.
