I want to become dentist in indian army ,how can I apply for it ? what are the entrance process ?
Hey, Akanksha
There are two ways for joining the Indian Armed forces:
1. You can get commissioned as a regular officer.
There are two entries here, both require your age to be between 19 and 24 and a graduate degree.
- Through the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in the non technical stream.
Through Officers Training Academy, Chennai also non technical.
2. You can join the Army Dental Corps (ADC) as a dentist
This would be more suitable as it is already your field so I will answer it in detail.
- Eligibility
(i) BDS/MDS Candidates with at least 55% marks in final BDS from an institute recognized by the Dental Council of India.
(ii) Should have completed one year rotatory internship recognized by the Dental Council of India as per the date prescribed by National Board of Examinations.
(iii) Should be in possession of a valid Dental Registration Certificate.
(iv) Should be less than 45 years of age as on 31 Dec of the year of application.

Candidates have to appear in the NEET – MDS exam for admission to various Post Graduate courses. Be sure to tick the Army Dental Crops field while filling the online Application form.
Candidates are screened and called for interview based on their scores before a Selection Board, at New Delhi. On selection you would be commissioned for an initial period of 05 years, which is further extendable by 05 years and another 04 years based on laid down criteria. You can also apply for Permanent Commission at the end of 14 years.
