Hi Rohan,

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), exam conducting authority has scrapped the Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination (SCRA) railway exam in 2015.
Started in 1927, the SCRA, was one of the oldest programme in India which involved selection of about 30 candidates by the UPSC to the undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur.
However, UPSC scrapped the exam and now conducts Indian Engineering Services (IES) or Engineering Services Exam (ESE) for selection to Indian Railway Services in Mechanical Engineering (IRSME). The application process IES 2018 has ended and you can apply for IES 2019 when the application process opens next year.

Good luck!
