hi,
see due to increase in the field of electric vehicle auto mobile sector is come to an critical situation, and the number of job possibility might decrease in near future, however I suggest you to go fore mechanical engineering sector, there is various job sector available in mechanical engineering includes designing, auto mobile engineering, filed engineering, production and manufacturing sectors etc.
Yes it is true. Automobile engineering has very less scope in India. Jobs after automobile Engineering mostly include in the field of R and D, manufacturing and sales and marketing. There are foreign automobile company branch established in India like Ford in Chennai. Even the R and D field is quite new and emerging, but still we find mrv Chennai which is the R&D centre for mahindra and also for Maruti suzuki in Rohtak. We are left with option of sales and marketing. Even placement in TATA MOTORS seem to only come true if you're from IITs or NITs.
Even in government sector, there is a huge competition as of 1000 candidates applying for 1 post. Moreover, placements in core automobile or mechanical branches are done mostly from Mechanical Engineering branch. Although, Automobile Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are not exactly same, but mostly jobs applications open in both govt and private sector are for mechanical engineers only.
It is recommended to you that if you are really interested in this core field, you can either go for higher studies in South-East Netherlands, Sweden or Germany where you would get proper scope and job offers in this field. Or if you want a private or govt job in India only, in this core field, then you go for Mechanical engineering and then progress further as per your interest.
I hope this helps you!
