Hello Greetings

The eligibility criteria for BA (Hons) in Economics vary across universities, but I'll provide general guidelines.

General Eligibility Criteria

1. *Class 12th percentage*: Typically, universities require a minimum aggregate percentage (e.g., 45%-50%) in Class 12th.

2. *Subjects*: While Maths is often recommended or required, some universities may not mandate it. However, having Economics in Class 12th is usually beneficial.

3. *Entrance exams*: Some universities require entrance exams like DU JAT (Delhi University), NPAT (NMIMS), or CUET (Christ University).

Universities That May Not Require Maths

1. *Delhi University (DU)*: For BA (Hons) Economics, DU doesn't explicitly require Maths in Class 12th. However, having Maths can be beneficial for the entrance exam.

2. *University of Calcutta*: The university offers a BA (Hons) in Economics without requiring Maths in Class 12th.

3. *Jadavpur University*: Jadavpur University's BA (Hons) in Economics program doesn't mandate Maths in Class 12th.

What to Do Next

1. *Research universities*: Look for universities that offer BA (Hons) in Economics without requiring Maths in Class 12th.

2. *Check eligibility criteria*: Verify the eligibility criteria for each university, including entrance exams, percentage requirements, and subject prerequisites.

3. *Reach out to universities*: Contact the universities' admissions departments to confirm their eligibility criteria and requirements.

While having Maths in Class 12th can be beneficial, it's not always a mandatory requirement. Focus on researching universities that align with your interests and academic background.

Have a great day

Hi Ayush,

For most universities in India, a BA Hons in Economics typically requires a background in Mathematics at the 12th standard level. However, the specific eligibility criteria can vary depending on the institution. While many universities require Mathematics as one of the subjects for admission to Economics, there are some that might allow students without Mathematics, especially if you have studied Economics in 12th.

You should check the eligibility criteria for the specific universities you're interested in. Some universities might offer bridge courses or allow you to study Mathematics alongside the Economics course if you're admitted without it. It's also helpful to reach out directly to the admissions office of the universities to confirm if your qualifications meet their requirements.

If you’re set on pursuing Economics, you could also explore other options like studying a foundation course in Mathematics before or during the initial part of your degree.

You can also check out the given website for more details about BA hons.

Best wishes!

Hi,

To pursue BA (Hons) in Economics, the candidate must have studied Mathematics as an compulsory subjects in class 12th. Mathematics is one of the compulsory subjects in classes 11th and 12th because without mathematics you will not be eligible to get admission to a Bachelor's Degree in Economics in any good university. All colleges admit candidates who have taken mathematics as a compulsory subject in 10 + 2.

In some colleges, you may get admission without Mathematics in class 12th. The education qualification required to get admission in BA Economics one must have passed 10 + 2 in any stream with Economics as one of the major subjects with a minimum score of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.

Hope this information will help you
