I want to do .CA.. what to do?

Generally people consider only 3 years of articleship period as a complete tenure for CA course but before that a 1 year study for the first two levels is also required which makes a total of 4 years for completing CA course.



The Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test, commonly known as CA CPT Exam. This exam is a gateway to get into the profession of Chartered Accountancy (CA), which is one of the most reputed courses in India.



Six subjects of foundation course.

Paper 1 : Fundamentals OF Accounting.

Paper 2 : Quantitative aptitude.

Paper 3 A: Mercantile Law.

Paper 3 B: General Economics.

Paper 4 : General English.

Paper 4 B: Business Communication.



So it takes minimum 4 years to become a CA after school. So, it takes minimum 3.5 yeas to become a CA after graduation. So in a nut shell we can say an average student takes 4 to 5 years  to become a Character Accountant assuming he does not clear exam in first attempt.

If you want to pursue your career as CA then you have to get yourself registered for CPT or CA foundation exam. Firstly fill the registration form which is available on the official website of ICAI. After your successful registration, ICAI will send you study material for preparation. For better preparation you can join coaching classes as well.

CPT or CA foundation exams are held twice a year i.e in may and November.





As per the latest ICAI notification, CA CPT exam will not be conducted after June 2019 session. CA CPT 2019 June session will be the last session of CPT exam. It has been decided in lieu of the introduction of new CA entry level exam, i.e. CA Foundation 2018, under revised scheme. After June 2019, CA Foundation will become the sole CA entry-level qualification examination. Until this period, both CA CPT and CA Foundation examinations will be conducted by ICAI.
