I will advice you not to do engineering until and unless you have interest in it.

Now coming to the question.

Both are good and have great carrier opportunities in future but it totally depends on your knowledge and interests. If you wants to gain knowledge about theoretical knowledge then you can go for degree but if you're interested in more of practical knowledge, technical knowledge and logical knowledge then you can go engineering. Since there are many misconceptions about both therefore, before choosing you should consider scope, difficulty level, career prospects :-

_Year of study_

*Degree* 3-4 years

*Engineering* 4-5 years

_Content_

*Degree* Broad and theoretical

*Engineering* Practical and technical

_Curriculum Rigour_

*Degree* Comfortable.

Students need to be good with Science and maths subjects.

*Engineering* Tough and demanding.

Students need to be excellent in Science, especially Maths subjects.

_Career prospects after graduation_

*Degree* MEDIUM – since the course is general in nature, you need to complete Masters to get a good start to your career.

*Engineering* Comparatively, career prospects after graduation in engineering is GOOD – the choice of engineering discipline + further specialisation under it gives an edge to choose and follow your career goals in that segment.

_Higher study choices_

*Degree* If you are interested in research pure science, you may do Masters (MSc) and then PhD.

*Engineering* If core engineering stuff is your forte / research work, you may do your Masters (M.Tech / M.E) and later PhD.

Now I hope you can make a decision .
