Merit based admission is the direct admission that means you'll get admitted on these courses on basis of your 12th percentage. You don't have to sit for any entrance exam. On the other side, entrance based means you've to sit for the entrance exam for your desired course. Depending upon the entrance marks, it will be decided that you'll get admission or not. You can apply for a merit based and entrance based admission in DU from same portal at the same time.
