Coming to the eligibility criteria. There are 5 points.

  1. Performance in JEE Main - Be among the top candidates of your category (Gen/OBC/SC/ST/PWD etc.) in JEE Main, i.e. clear the JEE Main cut-off.
  2. Age limit - you should have been born on or after October 1, 1994. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PWD candidates, i.e., born on or after October 1, 1989.
  3. Number of attempts - You can JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  4. Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination: You should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2018 or 2019.
  5. Earlier admission at IITs - You should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not you continued in the program ORaccepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. Candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.

I know there is a bunch of speculation about this. But remember - the NTA will only conduct JEE Main. The IITs will conduct the JEE Advanced - so I don’t think the rules will change much.

Hii

The Eligibility criteria for IIT is simple ;

  • You need to pass the JEE mains.
  • You need to pass the cuttoff required for the respective categories.
  • Inorder to enter in these elite institutes you need to have atleast 75% in class 12th.

Good luck

Hey! Hi Gautam Kumar Raj.

Well, If you are in the top 20 percentile of your board, then YES, you are eligible to get admission into an IIT's or NIT's.

Just aim to get atleast 60% to 70% in both JEE MAIN as well as ADVANCED to get good college through the counselling.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks.

All the best.

Hi Gautam,

To get admission into NITs, your JEE mains score would be enough, but if you opt for IITs, you have to clear JEE MAINS and then JEE ADVANCED.
