Hello,

Both fields have great future. And they have common areas too such as embedded systems.

Mechatronics consists of 4 different fields which are Mechanical engineering, electronics, control systems, and computer programming. For example, robotics is a Mechatronics field cause a robot if you think of it, consists of these 4 mentioned fields. Advantage of Mechatronics that you can work in any of these 4 fields on its own like you can be a mechanical engineer or control engineer. So, it gives you many career choices. For me, I’m gonna graduate this year from Mechatronics and I have intention to be an embedded SW systems engineer.

For Computer Engineering, There’s huge potential and opportunities in this huge umbrella cause from CE you can specialize in:

Embedded Systems

AI(Machine Learning)

Big data & Data Science

Software Development such as:

Mobile Apps

Web Development

Game Development

Autonomous Cars (Automotive industry as well Mechatronics Enginer)

Robotics

IOT(Internet of Things) which is a superset of embedded Systems

So, Whether you go for this or that, you won’t regret it at all because:

1- Both of them have a huge future potential.

2- There are a lot of common fields between them.

I was in the same dilemma 4 years ago and If I didn’t choose Mechatronics, I would have chosen CE

If you don’t like mechanical and control, Go for Computer Engineering.

Thank you for helping me

As I understand mechatronics is a really interesting field in which you are able to combine mechanical and electrical engineering and make something really interesting.

I was worried that if I choose mechatronics then I wouldn't be able to get many job opportunities. I just want to confirm that it is possible for a mechatronics engineer to work at a cs job.

I was thinking for going with mechatronics and if jobs are not available for mechatronics I would be able to work a cs job.(As a backup cause nowadays cs is a lot in demand)

And one more thing. I don't want work on an industries machines. I want to make something new and helpful and something not so borring as industry machine. So are there jobs that offer such a things?

Are consider mechatronics engineer as eligible for cs jobs??

Could you also tell me what are the reasons as for opting for mechatronics? and what kind of job do you like in mechatronics? Can you please also tell me best reasons to take mechatronics???

I am interested in cs but I think I would to combine cs with mechanical which mechatronics field provides. Am I wrong ?Please correct me if I am
