I understand your query and I would like to tell you as you want to prepare for GATE you really need to have a good grip on aptitude so prepare for Aptitude because there comes aptitude questions where you can secure easy marks. While we can go to the syllabus for this trade that comes in GATE and you can prepare accordingly. while I would suggest you to solve previous year question papers of this trade and also try to solve MCQs because that will help to gain marks.

You can prepare GATE for your branch. You can get the syllabus from the official gate wevpage. It mostly contains the subjects from all the 3 year which was branch specific along with that aptitude. Aptitude for gate is of different kind so look for that as a special case. You have to read paragra or related. Multiple sentences. This will be easy with practice. So just do it and prepare accordingly.
