First of all both the eligibility criteria of UPSC and IBPS PO clearly states that candidates need to pass graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, hence you can pursue bachelor's degree in any stream. it's entirely up to your choice but BA Hons in Economics can be good option as in terms of appearing for UPSC with general studies and optional paper, and to a large extent it will help you in banking exam, apart from this one of major difference between the two exams is UPSC has MCQs in prelims but mains is subjective, in IBPS PO both the stages are in MCQs with one descriptive paper in second stage, and banking exam requires speed and precision, over the years the difficulty level of questions in banking exams have too increased, hence practice is of utmost importance to qualify the same.
