Well, although most of the students of IISERs apply for PhD in various universities of India and the world, but a handful of them do go for placements in their final year.
They get placed mostly in the R & D departments of various companies.
In the year in which I joined IISER-P, around 8 students got placed in LAKME R & D department with package of 1 crore.
In the very same year, one student from IISER-K also got placed with a similar package abroad.
So, although out of 200 students of various IISERs(at my time maximum intake of 5 IISERs was 200 each), only about 10–15 get placed but packages are generally good.
But, if you just want to earn money, join an engineering college and clear CAT. You will earn more. Teaching is a good option.
All the best :)
