To learn about Computers it isn't  whether the course is general or engineering course. But it is your interest in learning and understanding about their functioning and development.

As I am doing Engineering course in Computer Science, I can tell you that you can opt for Engineering side. But I have no idea about general courses like B.Sc, BCA or MCA.

Engineering Syllabus almost covers all the fundamentals and the core of Computers about their architecture, design, Software development and deployment.

From the perspective of Salary, it is not essential have thorough knowledge about everything. You can choose your domain in which you are interested like Networks, Database, Programming, etc,.. and Inter-Engineering Disciplines like ImageProcessing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence,...

Almost all the domains have equal importance in their respective atmosphere.

And in India, choosing the right College to enhance your skill is as much important as choosing your department(Domain).

Top rank colleges like IIT, NIT, IIIT 's can provide you a proper guidance and atmosphere to achieve your passion.

But it is one's interest where his/ her success lies.

Respected sir,

Students who are interested in programming, software development, computer science and have good analytical and reasoning skills may pursue this course. B.C.A. (Bachelor of Computer Applications) is a slightly similar course. But B.E./B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering is bit more detailed and is a much more valuable Degree!

It is a 4 years long Undergraduate Level Degree program. The 4 years’ duration is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester lasting a period of 6 months. During each semester, students will have to face different sets of theoretical subjects as well as practical lab sessions associated with them.

B.E./B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering is all about Computer Sciences, programming languages, software development and testing, networking etc. It also focuses on using the above mentioned skills and knowledge for practical and Industry specific usage

In study of computer and its related applications. You can choose any thing

For example in the genral field you can learn working with Excel and other stuffs,Or you can choose designing, animation as an successfull career.

For engg. here Computer Science Engg. is the best way that you can enter. It provides placements in lots of MNC's and in other big companies if you are good in Software development.

What do you mean by studying computer? I wish to learn computers is a very generalised statement. What does your interest lie in? If you wish to do an engineering in Computer Science or IT, you need to be a PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) student in your 11th and 12th. You will also need to prepare for the various entrances and qualify in one of them for admission into Engineering. And if you are looking for learning only programming languages there are many pvt institutes, but a degree in BTech CS or IT will always have an advantage.

So first decide what really interests you. Any person needs the right set of skills and must be hard working to really succeed. Good salary will definitely follow if you study and work hard.
