Hello Aspirant,

Although each institution and  department will have their own eligibility requirements for their particular programmes and courses, the minimum eligibility necessary to study at Canadian universities is as follows:

For Undergraduate/ Bachelor Courses:

  • TOEFL (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/toefl/results-and-scores) : 213 or
  • IELTS (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/ielts/results-and-scores) : 6.0
  • Percentage: 70% or above in Class XII

For Diploma Courses:

  • TOEFL (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/toefl/results-and-scores) : 213 or
  • IELTS (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/ielts/results-and-scores) : 6.0
  • Percentage: Flexible admission

Depending on the course requirements and the university the applicant has registered, students may be required to take language and general examinations.

The International English Language Testing System ( IELTS (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/ielts) ), the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/toefl) ), and the Pearson Test of English ( PTE (https://www.aeccglobal.in/learn-english/pte) ) are the standardized language examinations that are necessary for college entrance.

These exams adhere to various formats, frameworks, and result bands. These examinations differ in many ways, yet many institutions accept any of the scores. So it's up to the student to decide which exam to appear for.

  • Minimum Percentage Required to Study in Canada after the 12th

The minimal percentage necessary for studying in Canada is 65% or higher for the humanities stream in class XII, and 70-80% or higher for the science/commerce stream in class XII. Students with less than a 60% grade point average can enroll in Foundation and Diploma programmes.

  • What Exams are Required to Study in Canada

Students who wish to study in Canada or abroad must demonstrate their language proficiency and the ability to get admission to the selected school. Canada is a multilingual country that speaks both English and French.

The French language is spoken in the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario.  The students who want to study in the aforementioned fields must be fluent in French.

Exams such as the GRE and GMAT are required for admission to Canada's top institutions.

But before deciding on a university, it is a good idea to learn about the international examinations that must be taken before filling out the university application forms.

The examinations are determined by the countries and universities. There are certain circumstances under which students might be excused from taking the test.
