The admissions are based on ranks as they dont release the score out of 125 so I can help you with the same -

VITEEE Cutoff for VIT University, Vellore (2016-2015) -

Computer Science & Engineering - 7000 ( 2016 Closing Rank ), 15000 ( 2015 Closing Rank )

Hi Yaman ,

Its a good thought to take cse as ur stream in btech and at a reputed institute of south , vit is a good institute its question paper is based on the pattern like first physics then chemistry and then maths . Try to score equal marks in each subject and above 100 . Youll definitely get cse stream of your choice . All the very best !

Look,VIT is a really competitive examination. You need to be in the top 5K people to be in the CSE Dept. of that institute. For this you've to score 90-95 marks at least to be eligible. This exam basically tests your speed and accuracy unlike JEE Mains. To do so, a lot of practise is needed and only then this brach can be expected. This is the 1st way to get CSE Dept in VIT.

NO. Not at all. And YES technically if your rank is above 1,00,000 they won't take you even if you like to pay 10 laks per year also.

Till 2013 admissions VITEEE ranks were considered upto 20000 maybe 25000 if you take second counselling for left out branches. And for remaining people who have not secured a rank below 20000 they used to get through management quota or donation. The price may vary depend upon your choosen branch and the time of admission for e.g. if you go immediately after the counseling you have to pay for e.g CSE or Mechanical or ECE some 3 or 3.5 Lakh per year but if you just before the college starts its classes then the price may go upto 5 Lakh per year and that too depends upon your choice of branch.

But since 2014 admissions that rule has changed.

VITEEE ranks are considered upto 100000 and students are called by slots for e.g

Slot 1 : 1 - 20000 ranks

Slot 2 : 20001 - 40000 ranks

And so on

After that they even have sub slots called categories

For e.g.

Slot 1 :

Category 1 : fees is 200000 per year

Category 2 : fees is 300000 per year

Category is basically for people with less rank to get their required branch that their rank cannot get at the first place and by paying extra money.

Usually CSE, MECHANICAL, ECE are the ones whose seats are filled up fast in slot 1.

People go crazy for CSE in VIT just for the placement opportunities they get usually.

I learned that one of my junior joined in CSE for 5.1 Lakhs per year.
