First of all I would like to ask you that is your main target is to join forces through CDS? Because if that so then you need to be a graduate with meeting all the eligibility criteria and qualifying the exam. I would mention all the details regarding that too but as you have asked for the pg courses and job opportunities in Defence and strategic planning.
Candiates with Masters in Defence and strategic planning are highly demand by different organisations as well as forces. Apart from this there are other courses avaliable for masters in same field, like

- Master of Philosophy in Defence & Strategic Studies
For applying in the course student should be a graduate.

- University of Madras offers postgraduate courses in defence and strategic studies. The department awards M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D degrees. This course is research oriented and does not involve physical training.

After completion of masters candiates can also write articles in newspaper, magzines on national security related aspects which brings awarness to the governmnet as well to public about national security issues.

The "Combined Defence Services" ( CDS ) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the I ndian Millitary Academy , O fficers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
