You are going to pass your 12th examination this year and you had appeared for the JEE main. You have scored 17 percentile in jee Main which is not a good enough score to get a good college. But as you have interest in the field of engineering you can join any private college accepting jee main score. You can also go for some Management quota seats. Depending upon availability and your choice you can choose any branch of engineering and pursue your career in this field.
First of all, don't panick. If you think your scores are not good enough in Class 12 Boards and JEE Mains, then consider takind admission into a private engineering college like VIT, SRM etc. If you are not sure about what field to choose, sit down and compare the prospects of various engineering fields. Look for what excites you the most. If required, sit down with your parents, teachers and seniors. Discuss with them thoroughly. You can also consult a professional career counsellor. Then, based on everything, decide what you want to do.
With less than 60% marks in 10+2 and 17 percentile in JEE MAINS, the options become very limited for you.
Since you have mentioned here that you would like to go for an engineering course, I would suggest you to find a suitable branch for yourself because sometimes taking the wrong brach can mess up your future.
So, think calmly that what are your goals and then decide your career path accordingly.
You can go for pvt colleges if you want to or can sit for improvement if you feel that you can do better.
Good luck
