I would like to start my career as a photographer how would I take a step for this? Have I need to write any exam?
To start your career in photography, you generally do not give the GRE exam or SAT . Instead, the official transcripts from your high school or college should be enough. But it is still advised that you check your individual college website for specifications. The college or university will convert your GPA to a 4.0 scale and for the top colleges for photography, a 3.0 score on a 4.0 scale is the general norm.
Instead, you will have to submit test scores for either of the two generally accepted English language proficiency tests, namely TOEFL or IELTS . For the best colleges, a TOEFL score of 90+ or an IELTS score of 6.0+ is generally accepted.
Apart from the TOEFL/IELTS scores, photography candidates will have to submit the remaining common application materials such as letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, other essays (variable), a resume, declaration of financial verification and the application form.
Additionally, photography candidates are required to submit a creative portfolio with 10-25 individual photographs depending on the university of preference. The portfolio is by far the most important aspect which is judged by the admissions committee followed by the statement of purpose.
Some of the best schools for both a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and MFA (Master of Fine Arts) are:
1. California Institute of Arts
2. Massachusetts College of Art and Design
4. SPEOS Photographic Institute Paris, France
