Iam a bsc geology student.I want to know about the jobs and cources after my graduation.
Hello Rahul
Nowadays Indian Government needs more and more geologists and if you have a shear knowledge and creditantials then you can excel mostly after Post graduation.
If you want to make a career in geology then you have to manage a masters degree in this subject. As all the other mentioned in their answers, companies (Be it national or multi national) like Coal India Limited, Hindusthan Zinc, Cairn, ONGC demand Masters’ in Geology at least. To appear in the entrance examination of GSI also you need to do a masters. Even for a campus placement to happen you have to wait till the final year of your masters’ degree. Another thing is, Geology is not being taught in most of the higher secondary schools in India. Otherwise a bachelor degree may suffice to become a school teacher of geology up to 8th Standard. Needless to say that to become a lecturer of professor you have to have a masters. That means a master degree in geology is really important to make a career in geology.
But if you want a good future without pursuing jobs related to geology, then there are millions of options waiting for you. You can go for an MBA after you get your bachelor degree in geology. You can try your luck in Govt. jobs, start your own business, make a career in fine arts, study literature, do whatever you are good at. (Source : Youtube)
