Hi Stebin,

I am glad to hear that you have made up your mind to be an astrophysicist. Let me help you.

Astrophysics is the application of physics to understand astronomy. You need to focus on a bachelor’s degree in Physics or an Engineering with an inclination to Physics, life science & mathematics.

Specialization in Astronomy can only be done at the Master’s level. In India you can apply for institutes such as Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Raman Research Institute (RRI), Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), etc.

B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN

Apply to Amrita University B.Tech 2025

Lastly, to work with public - private sectors, science centers, or with colleges/ Universities as a researcher or teacher you must have a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in astrophysics.

Best of luck.
