IAS have all the departmental powers in a district. He/She is the signing authority. So IAS have good powers in Police and it towers over a IPS. So you can understand how influential it can be.
I would say don't take this influential side of the IAS to be your goal. If you intend to give a loyal service to the citizens then only you should come in this profession.
