See,the hours of study differ among aspirant as the upsc syllabus is so vast,an aspirant has to tackle many a things,apart from newspaper reading on a daily basis,there's Prelims and Mains syllabus to cover,so you have to make your schedule accordingly how it suits you, and coming to your query regarding marhs and reasoning,the CSAT paper in prelims has this, you have to attain 33% only in CSAT to qualify it out of 200 marks,prelims has two paper,each of 200 marks for which Mark's aren't added in the final selection.
