Solution : Given Number =7A425B For the number to be divisible by 36 it should be divisible by 4 and 9. For the number to be divisible by 4, the last two digits "5B" should be divisible by 4. Then the possible values of B are 2 and 6. Now, for the number to be divisible by 9, Sum of digits = 7 + A + 4 + 2 + 5 + B = 18 + A + B should be divisible by 9. If B = 2, then the value of A = 7 [Since 18 + 7 + 2 = 27 is divisible by 9] If B = 6, then the value of A = 3 [Since 18 + 3 + 6 = 27 is divisible by 9] So, the possible values of A – B are (7 – 2) i.e. 5 or (3 – 6) i.e. – 3. After checking the given options, we get A – B = 5 Hence, the correct answer is 5.
