If has a great passion for cars and its engines.Which is the best branch for him mechanical, automobile or automotive engineering
Hi Vinay,
According to me, if you have a great passion for cars and their engines you should go for Automotive Engineering because:-
- Mechanical Engineering is an old and a broad branch for study of all types of machines. Its applications are design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Automobile Engineering is specialisation course for study of all types of automobiles or vehicles. Its applications are vehicle designing, repairing, testing and assembling.
- Automotive engineering is very much similar to Automobile Engineering. Specifically, this course focuses on engineering of cars. Its applications are mechanical, thermodynamic, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical principles with an aim to resolve engineering problems of cars.

Good Luck!
Hey there!
Mechanical engineering deals with the designing, construction and usage of different machines, including the car engines.
Automobile engineering deals with designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles.
While automotive engineering deals with designing new vehicles or modify the existing ones for with including better technologies.
Hope this solves your dilemma. Good luck!
The passion for cars and engines does not always make one a good engineer for engineering requires intense hardwork and efforts.
So,first off be sure of your calling. If you really want to pursue Engineering then only think about it.
Now coming back to your question. See,all the aforementioned branches, namely,Mechanical, automobile and automotive are somewhat similar as they all deal with machines specifically.
Automotive Engineering is a sub-branch of vehicle engineering. It can also be considered as a sub-branch of mechanical engineering that has split from the main branch focusing on the automotive field of study.
Automobile engineering focuses on the cars. It specifically deals with the designing of cars, operations in production of cars, designing of engines and fuel management. Thus, automobile engineering can be considered as a sub branch of automotive engineering. However, generally both the branches are used interchangeably to denote a branch dealing with motor vehicles.
Mechanical Engineering, generally deals with machines and devices in general, and not specifically cars.Mechanical engineers design, develop, build, and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices. If you pursue mechanical engineering, you will have several career options. You will be able to work in both automotive and automobile sector.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
