If a student fails to qualify iit will he still be eligible to get seat in nit,provided he has qualified for jee mains

Yes why not,

Getting admission in any nits or iiits has no any relation with the jee advanced score.

The sufficient condition is that your rank must be in that range to get admission,

And you have completed the criteria of board.
