Correct Answer: 300%

Solution : The area of a square = $s^2$, where $s$ is the length of a side.
If the side length is doubled, the new area = $(2s)^2 = 4s^2$
The increase in area = $4s^2 - s^2 = 3s^2$
The percentage increase in area $=\frac{3s^2}{s^2} \times 100=300$%
Hence, the correct answer is 300%.
