Since you have not mentioned the board which you belong to, I assume it is CBSE, so as per CBSE exam regulations , when you write an improvement exam,if you score better than your previous actual marks then the new mark will be mentioned in the certificate . If the new mark is lower than the previous one ,then the old mark will remain as it is on the certificate. So basically, the better mark will be chosen. Also for those who appear and clear the regular board exams a pass certificate will be issued. On the other hand, those who have appeared for an improvement of performance or for an additional subject in a subsequent examination shall not be issued a separate certificate or a combined marks statement. Such candidates shall be given only a statement of marks in that subject(s).
