if I apply through EWS category for JEE mains 2022 & if EWS cut off is more than General category,then can I directly get shifted to general category? Also suppose my rank in EWS category is 50 & in common rank list is 500,then from which quota will I get admission? from general or fromEWS quota?

The qualifying cut off for JEE Main Entrance Examination for EWS category is usually lesser than General category by considering the cut off trend over the years. So the cut off will be less for EWS category when compared with General category. Last year the cut off to qualify in JEE Main 2021 was as follows category wise
- General: 87.8992241
- EWS: 66.2214845
- OBC-NCL: 68.0234447
- SC: 46.8825338
- ST: 34.6728999
- PWD: 0.0096375

The qualifying cut off is subjected to change every year depending on various factors such as total number of seats available, difficulty level of examination and total number of candidates appeared etc.
As for the admission under particular quota, a candidate with General-EWS reservation will be considered for allocation under General-EWS category and General category as well. This is applicable for JoSAA counselling. The rules may change for other state level counselling governed by the respective state counselling conducting authorities. So, if you are participating in JoSAA counselling then you can get admission under General-EWS category or General category depending on your preferences of institute and course, seat availability and merit.
