You should always remember IIT is not the end of the road. Incase you fail to qualify in JEE Advanced, you do have other options like securing admission in a NIT or GFTI, provided you have performed satisfactorily in JEE Mains, ideally with a AIR above 50k.
If you have appeared for BITSAT Examination, and secured above 280/450 you have great chances in securing admission in either of the Pilani, Goa or Hyderabad Campuses.
Besides this there are excellent State Technical Institutes like Anna University Chennai, Jadavpur University, Delhi Technological University, JNTU Kakinada, BIT Sindri, COEP, VJTI Mumbai, HBTI Kanpur which are equally good. Some of these institutes have their own Entrance Examinations like JU and JNTU K while others like DTU and BIT Sindri use the JEE Mains Score for Admission Purposes. You must keep am eye on the Counselling and Entrance procedure of your Respective State's Top Technical Institutes.
You should also appear for COMEDK as some of the best Technical Institutes in State of Karnataka like RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT Bangalore continue their respective admission processes on basis of the COMEDK Score. These institutes have good infrastructure, faculty and enjoy a great employer outlook being located near IT and Industrial Hubs of Bangalore.
VIT Vellore and MIT Manipal are two of the best private technical institutes with great placement opportunities and you should also consider them in your college plans after JEE.
If you fail to qualify for JEE mains and advanced then you can go for respective state entrance exams like KCET, EAMCET. Also, you can go for good university entrance examinations like VITEEE, etc. Hence not only JEE but also you have so many exams and tests which can provide you the engineering seat equivalent to NIT seat. I suggest you search for local state entrance exams after 12th and college entrance exams after 12 to get admission in engineering branches, shortlist the exams prepare, and crack them.
Hope this answer helps you.

If you do not qualify jee mains and jee advanced then you can fill the application forms of other private colleges and of the engineering colleges of your respective state beforehand so that you have a second option afterwards. If you score good in your boards examination then also you can apply to many colleges. If you qualify only jee mains then there are a lot of colleges including nit/iiit/gfti in which you can get an admission.
