It's totally upon your choice if you want to take a drop or take admission in any engineering college.

But if you take a drop then you have to take the exam next year again as this year result cannot be used next year and this year result will be considered as null and void next year. Next year you have to again write the exams and then the result you get will be used in the councilling process.

I am sorry to inform you that if you are willing to drop a year then you have to give wbjee again as this year's rank will be obscene then. You can get admission in college in 2019 with your current rank but if you are willing to take admission in 2020 you will have to repeat wbjee. Hope this helps. Good wishes!
