Hello
Seats are alotted on the basis of merit ranks of students. The cutoff for admission varies depending on several factors sucha s the difficulty level of the exam, number of seats, etc.
However, you can go through the link below and check the previous year cutoff of VITEEE for reference and to have an idea about the branch wise rank required.

VIT Vellore is the most preferred campus and you should aim to get a good rank in the exam to get a seat.
You can enroll for the VITEEE Knockout to prepare for the exam more effectively and smartly using the smart study material (which includes chapter wise, concepts wise, most asked and most difficult questions), Advanced Test Series based on VITEEE Pattern (which includes unlimited chapter wise test, subject wise test and full mock test), adaptive time table, performance analysis (which includes Prepmeter, Strength Sheet, Weakness Sheet, Skills Graph) and Rank Predictor tool. Hello Venkiteswaran,
Vellore Institute of Technology or VIT is a leading private deemed university offers various academic programs in Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, and Management field. This university has NIRF rank 16 among engineering colleges and also among universities.
First of all, your 12th class marks do not have any role in your admission other than at the time of eligibility because admission in B.Tech programmes of VIT is solely based on marks obtained in VITEEE. Your rank will also be based on your marks and at time of counseling, candidates will be called on the basis of ranks.
Though it’s a very good thing that your marks are also good because they will help you in the future while you apply for jobs. As the official site of VIT states, that consistent marks on class 10th and 12th are required for campus placements (which is very far from taking admission.)
Now coming to your marks, they are pretty good. According to your marks and previous year trends, your expected rank would be in between 5,000-8,000 (minimum) and with a rank between such a range, you have a great chance of getting VIT, Vellore.
Since, you did not mention the branch you wanted to choose, last year’s cut-offs for different branches could be found at the following link-
With your marks in the range of 70-80, there is a lot more chance that you will be called for first counseling itself. And with the trend of closing ranks, you can get into almost all branches, though for B.Tech CSE, you may need to wait for second counseling. But if CSE is what you want, even then don’t worry because chances of getting a seat are much higher.
According to the admission procedure given by VIT at the official site-
Candidates can select campus of their choice at the time of counseling. Therefore, at the time of admission, fill Vellore as your first choice. Generally, the counseling starts in the month of May.
For information about the counseling details, schedule, documents required etc., you can visit the following link-

So, go ahead and hope for the best. I hope I was able to help but still if you have any doubt, feel free to ask.
Good luck!
