Hello Aspirant,
According to JEE Main guidelines, your all-around total in 12th Class must be 75% if you are from the General/EWS/OBC Category. Your overall Aggregate In the 12th Class Should be 65% if you are from SC/ST/PH Category. This is only applicable for IIT/NIT/IIIT/IIEST, you can go to any private college. If you are from General Category, I will recommend you to go for State Exams, VITEEE, KIITEEE, WBJEE, or SRMJEEE and try to intend for DTU/NSUT from JEE Mains and decent private colleges Like Thapar, LNMIIT Jaipur, DAIICT Gandhinagar and Nirma University. Top private colleges
Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology
Amity University, Noida
Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal

No doubt IITs and NITs are promising but private colleges are equally good but the fees will be high. In case you fail the 12th exam you can appear for BBOSE/NIOS and save one year. The major benefit of applying for secondary and senior secondary examinations through NIOS or BBOSE examination instead of going for the same board exam in which the student failed is you get to save a year. Missing a year could have extended consequences on your career as some various colleges and institutes want the student to introduce a statement about the explanation for the gap between class 10th and 12th. Both NIOS and BBOSE administer exams twice a year. BBOSE administers exams in January and in May. NIOS administers one examination in April /May and the second in October/November. You can go for the NIOS exam this year only. Both NIOS and BBOSE expect the learner to achieve 33% or more in the examination to finish the course. However, to get a certificate, the learner must qualify in 5 subjects comprising at least one but not more than two languages.
Application fees
For NIOS - Examination fees both for Secondary and Sr. Secondary - INR 250/- per subject.
Extra fees for practicals in subjects having both theory and practicals - INR 120/- per subject.
For BBOSE - Theory - INR 165/- per subject
Practical - INR 80/- per subject
