MAT examination is conducted four times a year, in September, December, February and May.

The answer to your question is YES, if you give MAT exam in MAY 2020, you will be able to get admission in an MBA college that very year without wasting an entire year. Some colleges though close their registration process at that time.

Many of the colleges closes their admission process before may only. So if you will give may 2020 mat exam then there are very few college like and average colleges in which you can apply and may get admission. And many of the colleges will consider your mat score for next session of 2021.
