If maths is yours optional subject, then yes.But, If a candidate failing in one of the five subjects of external examination shall be placed in compartment in that subject provided he/she qualifies in all the subjects of internal assessment. Compartment comes with a setback for students but there is a chance to appear for that subject again in the same year. So instead of worrying about it, one should get prepare for the compartment exam and qualify as a pass candidate.
