You can also prepare for entrance exams such as jee mains, BITSAT etc to get admission in top engineering colleges of india. Yes, you can get the admission to engineering colleges in2021 on the basis of your 12th board 2020 passed certificate .so a one years drop does not have much effect on admission. As the eligibility to apply for engineering courses is  10+2 pass with science subject.

However if the institution at which you want to apply take admission through entrance test you have to give the entrance test of that year.
