It is solely depends upon your area of interest and exploration.

If you wanted to code like hell then you can join IT and if you want to make instruments or chemical related things then chemical engineering is yours.

Talking about after engineering placements.

For IT sector : there are many giant companies are in market. but one thing i noted is that, as your age and experience increases in this field you will probably be out of the race of the companies.

Main reason of this is, companies always wants fresh coders which has known plenty of languages they can work upon. This is the big disadvantage of the field  but you can do your business by making websites, internet of things etc.

For Chemical Engineering : Public sector undertakings and other private firms are there for recruiting chemical engineers. for example ONGC, IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, KRIBHCO. as far as your experience increases you will be promoted to higher scale as per your performance.

I am telling this because our ultimate aim is to earn good money for ourselves.

So, be precise for choosing the branch.

Your interest and future scope in the field are the best way to choose.

All the best.
