If I have to take admission for mba in June 2020 then when should I appear for cat/cmat exam..?
Hello Balaji,
I believe you are a better candidate for the business world. Before answering your question, I would like to narrow your question so that it would be helpful. I begin with assuming that you are willing to persuing MBA in our beautiful India. So, there are mainly 3-4 exams like CAT conducted by IIMs, XAT conducted by XLRI, MAT, CMAT and some states exams like MHCET. So, they conduct a their own test to shortlist students. In the test, they ask mostly about quantitative aptitude, verbal , data interpretation and logical reasoning. You have to get through it with having a good percentile, so that top colleges like IIM BLACKIS, XLRI, XIMB, IMT, IMI, IIFM, FMS, DSE, IITs etc will sort you out. Then, you have to prepare yourself for GD and PI which carries a good share in final selection to their college.
And sticking to your exact demand of question assuming that you are all other eligibility to appear in CAT. You should try your luck in CAT 2019.
For any further communication, you can ask freely.
Thanks, all the best.
First of all, it feels so good to know that you're focused and clear about what you want to do in future. Assuming that you're in second year and about to enter the final year. You can give CAT 2019 which is expected to be held on Sunday, 24th november 2019. You can apply for the same between August and September 2019 on CAT exam website. For CMAT, no information about registration has been released yet but you can definitely check the website often. The exam already took place in january 2019 and is held once a year so one thing is for sure, next CMAT exam will be in 2020; most probably January. You will have to study for CAT/ CMAT simultaneously with your graduation study, which is not at all difficult if you're focused about your goal. Right now the most important thing is to score maximum in your graduation, this is the least you can do to get admitted into your dream college. Academic scores carry high weightage in your MBA college selection. If you're aiming for IIMs or other top MBA schools, then you definitely need to work hard in your graduation and score really high. You can join coaching as soon as you reach in final year of your graduation. This would give you sufficient time for preparation. For your preparation, as of now, you can start doing the below:
1. Read newspaper daily
2. Read general knowledge books
3. Learn new words daily
4. Solve mind puzzles like sudoku etc.
5. Participate in maximum events, certificates will help you boost your cv.
Hello Rohit,
It's good that you have decided early what you want to do in life. Since you want to take admission for MBA in June 2020, I assume you are in your pre-final year of your graduation. You must give CAT 2019 if you want to join MBA in 2020. The CAT or the Common Admission Test is a national level management entrance exam which is conducted every year by one of the IIM's. The scores given by CAT is valid for one year.
The CAT exam paper consists of three sections:
1- English language
2- Reasoning Ability
3- Quantitative Aptitude
There is a sectional cut-off in all the three sections and negative marks for wrong answers.
Based on your CAT score, your previous academic records, work experience, gender diversity and extra curricular activities, IIM calls the candidates for further processes. The further process includes Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. After clearing all the stages you will secure a seat at the prestigious IIM's.
For CMAT you have to appear in CMAT 2020 only. It will be most probably held in January 2020. CMAT is also a national level management entrance exam which is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The exam paper of CMAT consists of following sections:
1- Quantitative Aptitude
2- Reasoning Ability
3- English Language
4- General Awareness
There are many management colleges that gives admission to candidates depending on the CMAT score. Different colleges have different processes for selecting the candidates, but scoring good is very important. Start preparing from now and give mock tests as much as possible to become familiar with the exam pattern.
All the best.
